MFC WMX Race Team has successful weekend at WMX Series Opener

After a year of preparation and training, the Moto Fit Club WMX Race Team suited up for their first gate drop in over 14 years- and it was more than anyone could've dreamed of.
Brittany Marcotte, Jackie Ives, Lauren Volentir, and Lauren Woods geared up early morning Friday for the first set of qualifying motos on the track after being on a racing hiatus for over 14 years. Lauren Woods set the pace coming in 14th in the first qualifying session, followed by Brittany in 17th, Jackie in 23rd, and LV in 24th.

Team Captain, Brittany Marcotte, regrouped after qualifying to encourage the team to race loose, and open up their lines as the track started to develop throughout the day.
The first gate dropped for WMX Moto 1 at 2:05pm Friday on Amateur Day which left the racetrack with questionable line choices. The challenging course had Lauren Volentir and Jackie Ives digging deep to find their rhythm while Brittany Marcotte and Lauren Woods fought to flow with the track.

Checkered flag saw Brittany Marcotte finish 10th putting the MFC team well within the goal set by Team Manager, Bry Marcotte, aiming for a top 15 place finish. Lauren Woods finished 16th followed by Jackie Ives in 20th, and Lauren Volentir in 23rd.
Friday concluded in an unexpected overall finish for the MFC team, leaving everyone in good spirits coming into Saturday for Moto 2.
Saturday started bright and early as the riders attended the mandatory AMA Riders Meeting at 7:15am. Everyone felt rested and excited to take to the track for their one and only practice session at 12:00pm. With only 10 minutes to re-learn the course, Brittany Marcotte led the team in qualifying positions finishing 14th. Jackie Ives had a much better start to her day coming in at 19th, followed by Lauren Woods in 21st, and Lauren Volentir in 26th.
The team lined up on the gate for their final chance to prove why they deserve to be here amongst the worlds most prestigious women athletes at 3:14pm. The crowd was record breaking, lining the fences with blow horns and flags. With the stage set, the final gate drop of the first round of the 2026 WMX series took off.
As the 12 minute timer counts down, all MFC athletes fought tooth & nail to secure their overall positions. Although Brittany Marcotte struggled with suspension, she was able to secure 13th in Moto 2 after a gritty battle with the #60 of Kylie Alvarez. Lauren Woods got a great jump off the gate, putting her not far behind Brittany, finishing 18th. Lauren Volentir finally found her speed, putting in her best laps of the weekend and finishing 20th. Jackie Ives battled severe arm pump, but dug deep to put in a good fight for 25th.
Out of 29 WMX athletes crossing the finish line this weekend, the Moto Fit Club WMX Race Team successfully surpassed all expectations.
The official results put MFC on the map once again, after 14 years off the starting line. Every MFC racer accomplished what we set out to do, and announced their entry for Round Two of the WMX series in Thunder Valley, CO, June 12th & 13th.
